Mare transforms Mediterranean culinary art into an immersive spatial experience in the heart of Montreal’s Old Port. Conceived as a place where elegance meets comfort, the project unfolds marble, fine wood, raw brick, and stone in a hushed atmosphere where soft lighting reveals the richness and mineral quality of the materials. Two-tone drapery, metallic portholes, rounded soffits, and vaulted ceilings create an enveloping ambiance punctuated with nods to the Mediterranean coastline and the heritage of northern Italy.

The transition from the bustle of the Old Port to the restaurant’s intimate atmosphere invites guests to immerse themselves in a unique cultural experience: Mare celebrates the conviviality, passion, and complicity of its founders through a refined art of hospitality, where every detail tells a story.
