Casino
du Lac-Leamy

Casiloc Inc.
In order to renew its image and redefine its brand as a major entertainment and nightlife provider, the Société des Casinos du Québec chose Sid Lee Architecture to create an effective interior design intervention for its Casino du Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, Quebec. The major challenge to be adressed was a lack of organization and coherence: the interior space was overloaded, one-dimensional and undifferentiated, without any point of reference. Furthermore, the place came across as quite soulless and forgettable – it needed a specific atmosphere, a real identity.

The proposed intervention focused on bringing in a general coherence, opening strong perspectives to link spaces and identify functions, exploring the dimension of verticality offered by the building's high volumes and creating high-impact signature elements. The casino overlooks Lac Leamy, making evident the choice of an aquatic theme mixing mistery, transparency and sparkle. A one-of-a-kind geometric pattern is repeated throughout various decorative elements and creates a sense of coherence and fluidity.
